This ʻōlelo noʻeau encourages us to be brave and choose to dance, leaving your shyness and self-consciousness at home. This proverb is an cornerstone principle in the world of hula (Native Hawaiian dance), and an important life lesson that is also applicable in our everyday lives.⁠

It can be so intimidating and nerve-wracking to stand up in front of a crowd and perform. What if you mess up? What if you make a fool of yourself? It is so easy to hide and tell yourself that you should not.

You have so much capacity to grow if you give yourself the opportunity to do so. Allow yourself the space to be brave, take a chance and try something new. To "just do it". You have your friends, family and ancestors standing behind you to support you.⁠

Sustainability

We've partnered with some stellar organizations who are taking garment printing into the 21st century with DTG (direct-to-garment) printing technology. This means, everything at Maoli is made to order and we don’t have a warehouse full of clothes lying around. This reduces the clothing waste in our business to nearly zero.

Our eco-friendly water-based inks provide unlimited color combinations and make detailed prints pop without reducing their vibrancy in the wash. Reducing toxicity in the environment is one of our top priorities.

Whenever possible, we also use organic, recycled, or sustainable fabrics to manufacture our apparel. We aim to make our products good for your body and for the ʻāina (land).
