SPF, the standard used to measure the effectiveness of sunscreens, has been around for many years. The UPF system is relatively new and was created specially for sun protective fabrics.
NATIVE HAWAIIAN DESIGN
The Pae ʻĀina (Archipelago) Camo design features a camouflage pattern that uses each of the moku (islands) of the Hawaiian island chain. If you look closely at the pattern, you'll notice each of the eight major Hawaiian islands. The eight major islands of Hawaiʻi include Hawaiʻi, Maui, Kahoʻolawe, Lānaʻi, Molokaʻi, Oʻahu, Kauaʻi and Niʻihau. These islands represent the homeland or kulāiwi of the Kānaka Maoli (indigenous Hawaiians), and the source of their rich history and culture.
This specific pattern uses the moana or ocean color scheme. This color arrangement blends in best with the dark blues of the deep ocean. It represents the deep vastness of the Moana Pākīpika (Pacific Ocean).
