Mugs are great for anyone who is looking to make their morning coffee, afternoon tea, or any hot beverage even more special. At Maoli, we love our mugs in the morning because we believe Hawai’i is so beautiful when the sun just starts to come up. Our mugs help us start our day off on the right foot by making us laugh, smile, feel confident, or grateful for whatever the day will bring.

Uluhua translates to “vexed” or “annoyed” in English. The Uluhua design is a playful take on pre-coffee grumpiness. The mug equates the amount of coffee that is already drunk with one’s level of irritability. If you see someone using this mug, make sure to check how much coffee they have already drank, lest you feel their morning grumpiness!

The various Maoli-certified pre-coffee uluhua levels are as follows:

    • Full cup: E nahu ʻia ana ʻoe... (You will be bitten...)
    • ¾ full cup: Mau nō ka uluhua. (The annoyance remains.)
    • ½ full cup: ʻAneʻane mākaukau… (Almost ready…)
    • ¼ full cup: ʻĀ ʻo ia. E hoʻomaka. (There we go. You may begin.)

The term mānaleo means "native speaker". Get a good laugh by showing this mug off to any friends, family members or colleagues that know the Hawaiian language and are avid coffee fans.

We've partnered with some stellar organizations who are taking garment printing into the 21st century with DTG (direct-to-garment) printing technology. This means, everything at Maoli is made to order and we don’t have a warehouse full of clothes lying around. This reduces the clothing waste in our business to nearly zero.

Our eco-friendly water-based inks provide unlimited color combinations and make detailed prints pop without reducing their vibrancy in the wash. Reducing toxicity in the environment is one of our top priorities.

Whenever possible, we also use organic, recycled, or sustainable fabrics to manufacture our apparel. We aim to make our products good for your body and for the ʻāina (land).

We encourage our customers and our community to demand more from us when it comes to sustainability. Have an idea? Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
